Sunday PM (no snow as yet!)
There will be no shortage of insight from all quarters of education ICT come Wednesday, so I thought I'd fire first and show you some of the behind the scenes stuff that you may not see as a delegate. Also, a very quick weather update direct from Oympia!
BETT 2010 is upon us and, if only for the stand contractors, the show is well and truly underway!
Ergo doesn’t employ contractors to build our stand. As we’re a pretty hand- on business with a manufacturing element, we use our internal resource to shimmy on down to London and chip in to make our stand work for us. After all, it’s our stand – and we know what we want!
There have been obvious worries about the weather aired over the past few days. While I wouldn’t stick my neck out and make any predictions, as you can see from the image at the top of this post it’s certainly fine at the moment with no snowfall. All the roads and pathways are pretty clear down here, so as it stands there should be absolutely no issues with travelling in and around Olympia itself. Although with the weather as unpredictable as it is at the moment, things can change as fast as it takes to post this blog!
Sunday pre-BETT is a strange place to be. I’d like to see time-lapse shots, to see the hundreds of stands taking shape. As you can see from my pictures, it’s certainly a very different look to what the majority of people see when the show opens on Wednesday – with joiners and electricians as far as the eye can see.
You don’t see many sales and marketing types, not until Monday AM at the earliest or Tuesday evening at the latest! I’m here as a Marketing Manager, although with some of the more practical members of the Ergo staff here to do the ‘nitty gritty’ – I know my place as chief labourer and coffee runner supremo!
I've taken a few snaps on the show floor. I'll take some tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday from the same place so you can see how the stands take shape.

Check back tomorrow for another insight into the less glamorous side of BETT and another – hopefully positive - weather update. Apologies for the poor quality phone pictures. That said, if a USB cable for my SLR is the biggest thing I’ve forgotten - I’ll be happy!
We're on Stand B100 at the show in the Grand Hall. Come and say hi if you're around!
