History

History
Ergo Computing was founded in 1988 as a non limited partnership by two degree qualified electronics engineers. The initial focus was as a computer hardware consultancy, an approach that proved to be a great success, covering a wide scope of complex consultancy projects. Today this still forms an important part of the company's day-to-day business, and is one of the reasons why we are able to attract honours graduates to staff our technical support activities. Past projects include establishing a wide area network between Germany and the UK for Alfa Laval, the world's largest valve manufacturer, and also a large architectural CAD network for one of the leading commercial architectural practices in the UK, Leslie Jones Architects.
Ergo USA
In 1990, we established a technology agreement with Ergo USA which has formed the basis of a long-lasting international alliance. Today the closest of ties still remain between us, with benefits such as free warranty in the USA being provided to all of our clients in the first 12 months.
Ergo Today
Since our very first portable computer, the "Brick", Ergo's growth
has consistently exceeded 50% year on year. This level of growth has necessitated
a very sustained and focused investment programme covering all aspects of
the business giving us arguably the most advanced specialist notebook facility
in the UK. This includes a fully automated robotic configuration and burn-in
facility, 100% piece part bar code tracking system backed by some of the
best technical support and design facilities in Europe.
In part, it is thanks to this that we have been successfully awarded major
supply contracts in the Public sector, including the Ministry of Defence,
Catalist and NHScat-IT, NGfL Managed Services, NGfL Laptops for Teachers,
Fasttrack Teachers Initiative and the National Notebook Contract for universities.
We have also been able to forge a strong corporate presence with direct
supply contracts into FTSE100 companies, large and small corporates, as
well as close business partnerships with IT facility companies such as PC
World Business Direct and a nationwide chain of specialist resellers.
Other developments include an online order tracking capability via our in
house web site as a first stage in what we call internally our "Transparency
Program" aimed at giving all our clients a full immediate insight into all
aspects of their relationship with Ergo. We have also introduced a new technical
support software suite developed in house to ensure all calls are tracked,
handled effectively and the problems resolved.
The Future
Given that our advertising budget must be the lowest in the industry we
are very aware that our success to date and our futures has but one key,
servicing our current customers effectively, professionally and promptly.
Whatever the development in the coming years they will all be focused on
one objective: servicing our customers needs more effectively.
