Intel® Core™ Duo is basically two processors (cores) engineered onto a single chip, which results in almost twice the computing
power of a single processor in the same space.
One of the biggest advantages is that the processor consumes significantly less energy, extending battery life and improving fan
control. Power is saved by Dynamic Power Co-ordination and Deeper Sleep, which lower the energy demands of both chipset and
processor during periods of low use and enhance sleep mode.
Parallel threads or applications can be executed on separate cores, delivering noticeable improvements in performance and
responsiveness. Smart Cache works with the dual core architecture to share cache dynamically and effectively between them,
while digital media-intense applications will take advantage of Streaming SIMD Extensions 3.
Working together, the processors 4x data bus and 2x address bus can provide data bus bandwidth of up to 5.33 GB/second.
