Q: What is the new Intel® 945 ChipSet?
A: The new Intel® Mobile 945 chipset supercedes the Intel® Mobile 915 chipset. This newer chipset has been released to support the new CoreTM Duo processors. The 945 chipset also includes the faster GMA 950 graphics controller. Please contact the sales team for further technical details.

Q: When I press U I O P J K L M, I get numbers not letters on the screen?
A: This is because the "NUM Lock" is on - to turn off, press Function key and corresponding numlock F key at top of keyboard
Q: What is the difference between a XGA, SXGA, VGA and SVGA screen?
A: The difference is the screen resolution.
- VGA (Video graphics array) = 640 x 480
- SVGA (Super VGA) = 800 x 600
- XGA (Extended graphics) = 1024 x 768
- SXGA (Super XGA) = 1280 x 1024
- WXGA (widescreen XGA) = 1280 x 800

Q: What is spyware?
A: Spyware is software that monitors or alters your computer without
your consent. Commonly, spyware will monitor the websites you use and report
this information to marketing companies. Another frequent spyware trick
is to alter your computer so that advertising pop-ups appear on your computer

Q: What if my laptop screen breaks?
A: Ergo offers 5 years spares availability guarantee on electronic
spare parts, including screens. However, due to the cost of a laptop screen,
we mostly recommend purchasing a new machine as a cheaper option.

Q: I purchased my machine in the US, can I get technical
support?
A: Please look for help from the US web site on www.ergo-computing.com.

Q: Which is the lightest Ergo laptop?
A: The Microlite 411 is the smallest and lightest laptop, weighing
only 1.6kg including battery and optical drive
Q: Which machines meet the military ruggedisation standards?
A: The Hardcase Rugged, Hardcase Pro 212 and the Hardcase Tablet
PC all meet a number of military ruggedisation standards.
Q: Can I choose the specification of my laptop?
A: All our laptops are build to order, so you can have the exact
specification you need.
Q: What quality and environmental standards does Ergo
hold?
A: Ergo is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified.
Q: If the standard warranties do not offer what I am looking
for, can I have a bespoke solution?
A: We can tailor a warranty package to meet your specific situation.
Q: How long has Ergo been established?
A: Ergo was founded in 1988, and has developed to be the leading
manufacturer of laptops in the UK.
Q: Which forms of payment does Ergo accept?
A: We accept Mastercard, Visa, Switch, BACS and government purchasing
cards.
Q: What do I do if I spill a drink onto my laptop?
A: Immediately unplug the laptop from the mains, shut down, remove
the battery and place the laptop in a dry place (at room temperature).
Do not use the laptop again until it is completely dry.
Contact Ergo if you are in the least concerned that you may have damaged
the machine.
Q: What do I do if my laptop gets stolen?
A: Contact Ergo with the serial number, and we will register it
stolen. Because serial numbers are retained by Ergo, we do frequently track
down stolen machines.
It is important you make a note of the serial number of your machine.

buy from Ergo?

Q: What is the difference between a laptop and a notebook?
A: There is no difference, the terms are interchangeable.
Q: Will Ergo take back redundant IT equipment in accordance
with the WEEE Directive?
A: The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
requires manufacturers to recycle or safely dispose of redundant IT equipment
returned from their customers. The directive is due to become UK law in
June 2006, however Ergo currently offers its customers an equipment recycling
and disposal service subject to certain terms and conditions. Contact

Q: Who can lease laptops?
A: Ergo Finance offers leasing to the public sector and to corporate
businesses.
Through the Learn AnywhereTM scheme students can lease laptops
via their school, college or university.
